We installed our first storage units
in the basement of a condominium in 1995, but our self-storage experience dates
back a decade earlier.
The principals of Bargold began a self-storage operation in 1985, which grew to
nine facilities and totaled more than 16,000 storage units. The chain was sold to
a national self-storage operator in 1998.
Through the experience gained in the operation of a standard, off-site self-storage
operation, we realized that there was an unfilled demand for on-site self-storage
in buildings throughout the New York metropolitan area. We knew we could satisfy
that need in every building that had available basement areas, no matter how cluttered
or ‘rough’. Further, we committed ourselves to provide that service at half the
price of off-site self storage facilities, and at no cost or concern to the Board,
owner, or Managing Agent.
We have applied our construction, management, and maintenance expertise to what
has grown to be an operation of over 14,000 units in more than 1000 buildings. |
